Vaginoplasty Procedures
Vaginoplasty is a surgical procedure that that tightens the muscles of a vagina that\’s become slack or loose from child birth or aging. Some surgeons claim it can even improve sensitivity and can also enhance lovemaking for women hence why it is often known as a ‘designer vagina”. Having lax vaginal muscles can be distressing and embarrassing. This can affect self esteem of the patient who is unable to enjoy a normal sexual life.
THE PROCEDURE: – The surgery will take about 90 minutes and is usually performed under general anaesthesia or with local anaesthesia with sedation. The patient might have to stay overnight in hospital.
The procedure involves repairing the stretched muscle at the back of the vagina trimming of unwanted vaginal skin. This procedure will tighten and tone up the muscles and soft tissues as well as eliminates any excess lining of the vagina.
There will be some soreness and a some of swelling after the surgery but this is normally expected. The patient can get up and move around after a few hours .Surgeons to use dissolvable stitches in vaginoplasty surgery so there is no need for the patient to return to the clinic or hospital for removal of stitches.
The patient can resume sexual activity after 4 to 6 weeks and can return to work in a week’s time.
Sometimes Vaginoplasty is combined with “Labioplasty” – which involves trimming and shaping up the “lips” of the vagina and also “ Hymenoplasty”- where the virginial membrane – Hymen is reconstructed to complete the genital rejuvenation process.
